Settings

Important

Information and features vary according to the roles to which you belong and the permissions associated with those roles. For more information, contact your module manager or your campus support team.

The question/field properties on the Settings tab let you configure the following settings:

Setting Type

Description

Add Double Value to Final Balance

The Add Double Value to Final Balance setting is used when you are associating a fee/accepting a payment with your form. Select this checkbox to double the final balance amount the form user enters or selects.

Tip

This is a legacy feature that will be discontinued in a future release. Use the Balance Calculator to update the final balance.

Alignment

The Alignment setting lets you show the question within the left, right, or center of the row.

Allowed Extensions

The Allowed Extensions setting lets you determine what file extensions your school will allow form users to upload. This feature is typically used with the File Upload question.

Auto Complete Data Source

This setting allows users begin typing their response in the textbox and populates a list of auto-complete options the user can select from based on the data source selected for this setting.

Date from Tag

This option can be used to pre-populate a datepicker question with a particulate date using a literal string replacer.

Notice

You can create a @@BirthDate tag that selects the currently logged in user’s birthdate from biograph_master, and you could have it select that date by default in the datepicker by populating the Date from tag setting with @@BirthDate.

Default Value

The Default Value setting lets you determine what information or data value is shown to form users when they access the form. Form users can update this value as needed.

Display Time

The Display Time setting lets you determine if the datepicker question will show the time when the form user goes to pick a date.

File Name Format

The File Name Format setting lets you give uploaded files a naming convention. This can be helpful for managing multiple uploads by creating unique and distinguishable file names. You can use literal string replacers to add the form users name or submission date. This feature is typically used with the File Upload question.

Help Info Text

The Help Info Text setting lets you enter additional information or brief instructions for form users. Help information is shown next to a help icon that shows your text when the user hovers over or clicks on it.

Include in Grid Report

The Include in Grid Report setting lets you determine if what the form user enters or selects is included in form report's summary table in the Report View.

Input control CSS classes

This setting allows you to add a CSS class to the question (e.g., you can enter in “btn-success” to turn a button green).

Map to J1 Web Event Field

The Map to J1 Web Event Field setting is available for schools licensed to use J1 Web Events Management. It maps J1 Web event invitee information to the event registration form. When you are creating an event registration form using the event templates, this information is automatically mapped to the appropriate questions for you. You can add questions to your registration form and map additional J1 Web information as needed.

Max Length

The Max Length setting lets you limit how much information form users can enter in a field. This can be useful for an essay question. If you are working with a collection grid, this setting limits the number of rows that can be added.

Multiply Balance by Double Value

The Multiply Balance by Double Value setting is used when you are associating a fee/accepting a payment with your form. Select this checkbox to multiply the amount the form user enters or selects by the fee amount in the associated payment profile.

This is a legacy feature that will be discontinued in a future release. Use the Balance Calculator to update the final balance.

Or Enter Image URL

The Or Enter Image URL setting lets you enter or paste the website of the image you want to display in your form question.

Required

The Required setting make the question or field required before the user can move on to the next tab of the form or submit the form.

Selected Date

The Selected Date setting lets you select a date you want to appear in the datepicker question. Form users can click on the field to change the date.

Upload a File

The Upload a File Setting lets you select and upload a file that will be available to form users when they access a File Download question.

Width and Height

The Width and Height settings let you adjust how the size of the question. You can use the percentage of 100 or use px or pt values (e.g., enter 50% or 50px to make the question smaller).

  1. Log in to the Campus Portal as an administrator and access FormFlow - Forms.

  2. Click Manage forms.

  3. Click on the form you are working with.

  4. Right-click on the question and select Properties to open the Edit Item pop-up.

  5. Click the Settings tab.

  1. Access the question Settings tab.

  2. Select the Add Double Value to Final Balance checkbox.

  3. Click Save.

  2. From the Alignment drop-down, select how you want the question aligned in the row.

  3. Click Save.

  2. In the Allowed Extensions field, list the file types you will allow an applicant use to upload their essay or resume.

    Note

    Enter the file types in .docx, .pdf, etc. format.

  3. Click Save.

  1. Access the question Settings tab.

  2. In the Date from Tag field, enter the literal string replacer you are using to determine what date will automatically be selected when the form user accesses the form.

  3. Click Save.

  1. Access the question Settings tab.

  2. In the Default Value field, enter the information you want to be automatically shown form users when they access the form and this question.

  3. Click Save.

  1. Log in to the Campus Portal as an administrator and access FormFlow - Forms.

  2. Click Manage forms.

  3. Right-click on the datepicker question and select Properties to open the Edit Item pop-up.

  4. Click the Settings tab.

  5. Select the Display Time checkbox.

  6. Click Save.

  1. Log in to the Campus Portal as an administrator and access FormFlow - Forms.

  2. Click Manage Forms.

  3. Click on the form you want to update. The admin view of the form displays.

  4. Right-click on the file upload question and select Properties. to open the Edit Item pop-up.

  5. Click the Settings tab.

  6. Enter a naming convention for uploaded files in the File Name Format field.

    Tip

    You can use literal string replacers to use information from the form to make the naming convention unique.

  7. Click Save.

  1. Access the question Settings tab.

  2. Enter your hint text in the Help Info field.

  3. Click Save.

  1. Access the question Settings tab.

  2. Select the Include in Report Grid checkbox.

  3. Click Save.

  1. Access the question Settings tab.

  2. From the Map to J1 Web Event Field drop-down, select the J1 Web event information you want to be populated on the form for this question.

  3. Click Save.

  1. Access the question Settings tab.

  2. In the Max Length field, enter the total number of characters the form user is allowed to enter.

  3. Click Save.

  2. Select the Multiply Balance by Double Value checkbox.

  3. Click Save changes.

  2. In the Or Enter Image URL field, paste the web address of the image you want to associate with the question. To get the URL of a web image:

    1. Access the website with the image you want to add.

    2. Right-click on the image and select Copy link address. 

      Caution

      This may not always be accurate. If the image links to something else, the address being copied copying will be the target of the link and not the source of the actual image.

  3. Click Save changes.

  1. Access the question Settings tab.

  2. From the Selected Date calendar options, select a date you want to appear in the field when form users access it.

    Note

    Form users can click on the field to change the date.

  3. Click Save changes.

  1. Access the question Settings tab.

  2. From the Upload a File options, click Choose a File.

  3. Locate and select the file you want to be available to form users.

  4. Click Open.

  5. Click the Upload button.

  6. Click Save changes.

  2. In the Width field, enter how wide you want the field to be on the form.

  3. In the Height field, enter how high you want the field to be on the form.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Select the Required checkbox.

  6. Click Save changes.
