Online Giving
The Online Giving feature allows you to make gifts and pledges to the institution via e-checks and credit cards and to designate how your gift/pledge is to be used. The step-by-step transaction process is easy to use, and you have the option to target your gift to specific programs. All gifts and pledges can be given in memory or in honor or an individual. When making a pledge, you can also indicate how and when the pledge will be fulfilled.
Personal information, which is controlled by privacy settings in the My Info feature, can be viewed and updated by the constituent from within the Online Giving feature.
If you are not logged in or do not have a login and password and click the Give a Gift or Pledge link, the Personal Information screen displays and requires you to enter biographical information before the Gift or Pledge screen is displayed.
If you are logged in, personal information can be viewed and updated by clicking the Verify personal information link or tab.
You can designate specific user groups to be notified via an e-mail message when gifts/pledges are submitted. In order to grant these privileges:
the appropriate J1 Desktop group must exist or be created
the appropriate J1 Desktop users must be assigned to the J1 Desktop group
the J1 Desktop users must have an e-mail address in Name Master
the J1 Desktop group must be granted permission to receive e-mail notifications
Additional configuration settings specific to making gifts and pledges may be required to allow the donor to pay by credit card or electronic check, which creates financial transactions in J1 Desktop. Currently, JICS utilizes Authorize.Net (automatically) and CashNet (via a services contract) to verify payments, which means that your organization must establish an account with Authorize.Net or CashNet.
Giving opportunities can be categorized in one of five ways:
Unrestricted
Campaign Funds
Financial Aid/Scholarship Funds
Memorial/Honor Funds
Gift Category Funds
When a gift or pledge is entered and the Confirm & submit donation link is clicked, a summary is displayed for review along with a final Confirm & submit link, which, when clicked, opens the Online Payments feature for your convenience in submitting payment for the gift/pledge.
Open the Online Giving feature.
Click the Give a Gift or Pledge link.
The Gift or Pledge Details screen opens with the Give a Gift or Pledge tab active.
For the Unrestricted Funds designation, click the Make a Pledge button.
Complete the required fields in the form provided. Required fields are indicated by an *.
You can optionally enter special instructions/requests.
If you select one of the Dedication options (In memory of or In honor of), you must enter a name in the Name of Honoree text box.
If you select the Check to notify someone of this gift and provide name and address below checkbox, you must enter name and address information in the name and address fields provided. If you enter name and address information and did not select a Dedication option, you will be required to do that.
Click the Continue button.
A summary of your pledge is displayed on the Confirm & submit donation tab.
Review the summary of your pledge.
If you want to remove the pledge, click the Remove button to return to the Confirm & submit donation tab on the Gift or Pledge Details screen. The message indicates that your gift/donation is $0.
If you want to edit the pledge before submitting, click the Edit button, edit as desired, review, and then click the Confirm & Submit button.
If you did not make an initial gift today and want to submit it without changes or after editing, click the Confirm & Submit button. The Submitted screen indicates the success of the submission. Click the Continue button to return to the Gift or Pledge screen
If you made an initial gift today and want to submit it without changes or after editing, click the Confirm & Submit button.
The Payment Method screen displays. The only type of payment available is Credit. Click the Continue button to display the Enter Payment Information screen.
Complete required fields, and click the Continue button.
The Verify Payment Information screen allows you to review your payment information. If you need to edit the information, click the Edit button.
Click the Continue button.
The Payment Submission Results screen displays your transaction information.
Click the Return to Online Giving link.
Open the Online Giving portlet.
Click the Give a Gift or Pledge link.
The Gift or Pledge Details screen opens with the Give a Gift or Pledge tab active.
For the Financial Aid/Scholarship Funds designation, select from the drop-down list (if available) the financial aid/scholarship fund to which you want to make a gift.
Click the Make a Gift button.
Complete the required fields in the form provided. Required fields are indicated by an *.
If this gift is to be applied to a prior commitment (pledge), select the corresponding checkbox.
You can optionally enter special instructions/requests.
If you select one of the Dedication options (In memory of or In honor of), you must enter a name in the Name of Honoree text box.
If you select the Check to notify someone of this gift and provide name and address below checkbox, you must enter name and address information in the name and address fields provided. If you enter name and address information and did not select a Dedication option, you will be required to do that.
Click the Continue button.
