Important

Information and features vary according to the roles to which you belong and the permissions associated with those roles. For more information, contact your module manager or your campus support team.

The Button question type is commonly used for cause and effect. This means that when the form user clicks the button, they cause something to occur. Common form buttons include navigation buttons that save a user's progress as they go, save buttons to save progress, or submit buttons to finalize and send the form to the appropriate location.

  1. Log in to the Campus Portal as an administrator and access FormFlow - Forms.

  2. Click Manage Forms.

  3. Click on the form you want to update. The admin view of the form displays.

  4. Click Add Question.

  5. Enter an identifier for the button in the Unique ID field.

  6. From the Type drop-down list, select Button.

  7. In the Text field, enter the label you want to use for the button (e.g., 'Submit').

  8. Enter the group name in the Group field if you are adding this button to a group.

    Note

    Each question being included in the group must have the same group name in this field.

  9. If you are putting this button in a collection grid:

    1. Select the grid you are associating the button with from the Grid drop-down.

    2. Select the appropriate Grid Function from the drop-down. For example, if this button will add data into the collection grid, select Add button.

  10. Click the Settings tab.

  11. The question is automatically aligned to the left of the form page. Use the Alignment options to move it to the center or right.

  12. Enter a known CSS class in the Input control CSS classes field if you wish to apply a CSS class to the button (e.g., btn-success).

  13. Click the Rules tab to define what happens when the form user clicks the button.

  14. Click Add Step.

  15. In the first drop-down, select If answer value is and in the corresponding effect field, enter *.

  16. In the second drop-down, select the action you want to occur when the form user clicks the button.

  17. Repeat steps 12-14 to add as many actions you want.

  18. Click Save changes.

Tip

A Save and Quit button works in conjunction with allowing form submitters to create a temporary account so they can save their work on a form and return to complete it at another time.

  1. Access the form you are working with.

  2. Click Add Question.

  3. In the Unique ID field, enter an identifier for the button.

  4. From the Type drop-down list, select Button.

  5. In the Text field, enter the label for the button (e.g., 'Save and Quit').

  6. Click the Settings tab.

  7. The question is automatically aligned to the left of the form page. Use the Alignment options to move it to the center or right.

  8. Click the Rules tab.

  9. Click Add Step.

  10. In the first drop-down, select If answer value is and in the corresponding effect field, enter *.

  11. In the second drop-down, select Form: Quit.

  12. Click Add Step.

  13. In the first drop-down, select And.

  14. In the second drop-down, select Form: Save.

  15. Click Save changes.

  11. In the second drop-down, select Form: Submit.

  12. Click Add Step.

  13. In the first drop-down, select And.

  14. In the second drop-down, select Workflow: Use Approval Track from the first drop-down option and the workflow process you want to use from the second drop-down.

    Note

    Only the workflow approval tracks you have set up are available.

  15. Click Save changes.
