Description

Provides students with continuing opportunity to assess the biopsychosocial aspects of individuals throughout the life span. Includes: an introduction to the biopsychosocial aspects of the childbearing/childrearing family through a family-centered approach; exploration of the normal prenatal period and progresses throughout adulthood; common well-defined health problems and developmental needs of persons of all age groups; and common alterations of basic human needs from prenatal through death. Through the use of the nursing process, students further develop the necessary knowledge and skills to provide nursing care to the childbearing/childrearing family and to individuals experiencing alterations in meeting basic human needs. Selected clinical learning experiences utilize the nursing process in the development and provision of nursing care in structured health settings. Prerequisite(s): ALH 124, BIO 201, ENG 111, NUR100, NUR 117 and NUR 125. Corequisite(s): NUR 115, BIO 211
