Description

This course provides nursing students with knowledge about the general principles of pharmacology. It includes an overview of the bodily effects of drugs as well as review of major drug categories. Pharmacologic classifications, mechanisms of drug actions, pharmacogenomics, key adverse effects and drug interactions will be discussed. This course provides students with knowledge about nursing responsibilities and accountability in the administration of medications across the lifespan. This course will also cover dosage calculations necessary for safe preparation and administration of medications. There is no clinical component for NUR115.
