Description

This course provides students with knowledge about the general principles of pharmacology. It includes an overview of the principles of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacotherapeutics as well as a review of major drug categories. Numerous pharmacologic classifications, mechanisms of drug actions, key adverse effects, and drug interactions will be discussed. This course provides students with knowledge about general principles of pharmacology along with the health care professional?s responsibilities and accountability in the administration of medications over the lifespan, thereby preparing the health care professional for safe, therapeutic pharmacologic interventions. Students will develop skills needed for calculating dosages and administering various medications.
