Description

This course takes the experienced paramedic and expands upon their role into the role of community paramedic. Course content includes medical legal issues, scope of practice, financial implications, nutrition, and public health. A significant portion of this course is reserved for discussion of the social determinates of health and the role of the community paramedic in public health. Students will learn about high risk populations, health promotion and injury prevention strategies, as well as chronic disease management. Advanced physical assessment, laboratory test interpretation and bed side diagnostics are introduced. Prerequisite(s): Matriculation in the Community Paramedicine Program Corequisite(s): None
